Wilshire Wins Prestigious Gramercy Institute Award for “Climate Taker to Climate Maker” Video Series

Award honors financial firms and leaders that are marketing ESG value propositions in an effective, efficient, and brand-consistent way.

New York & Santa Monica, California (June 14, 2022)Wilshire, a leading global financial services firm, today announced it has won a 2022 ESG Marketing & Communication Award from the Gramercy Institute for the “Climate Taker to Climate Maker” video series launched in October 2021. Wilshire received the award in partnership with FT/The Alpha Grid in the Content Marketing Intermediary-Targeted category.

Wilshire developed the seven-video series after receiving the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation Environmental Program Grant in November 2020. The series’ objective is to help empower investors in making climate-responsive decisions and in aligning passive asset management with the Paris climate goals.

The Gramercy Institute’s awards showcase excellence in marketing and communications of environmental, social and governance-oriented financial products and services, which are critically “important to investors and, consequently, to virtually all world markets,” according to the Institute’s website.

Wilshire’s videos provide high-quality educational content through interviews with industry-recognized institutional investors. They are designed to help equip investment staff, trustees, beneficiaries and savers in making ESG investment decisions as we approach the goal of net zero-emissions by 2050.

“We are delighted to win this prestigious award and feel honored to be recognized as making a significant contribution in helping the next generation of investors make climate-responsive decisions,” said Daniel E. Ingram, Senior Vice President at Wilshire. “Winning this award would not have been possible without the help of our clients and peers who gave their time to support this important project.”

Ingram specifically thanked:

• Nili Gilbert, Investment Committee Chair of the David Rockefeller Fund and fellow presenter

• H.E. David W. Panuelo, President of the Federated States of Micronesia

• H.E. Surangel S. Whipps Jr., President of the Republic of Palau

• FT/AlphaGrid video and promotion partnership

Mark Makepeace, Wilshire’s Chief Executive Officer, commented, “We have a collective responsibility to identify and manage climate risks that lead to better long-term investment outcomes for our clients. I am delighted that Daniel’s contribution has been recognized as it shows our overarching commitment as a firm in helping investors better understand how to overcome the challenges and identify the opportunities that climate change has created.”

Since completing the “Climate Taker to Climate Maker” video series, Wilshire has further dedicated itself to helping investors understand how to decarbonize their investment portfolios by launching the FT Wilshire Climate Change 1.5°C Target Index Series with Nikkei and the Hang Seng Indexes Company on May 16, 2022. The new Index Series meets the strict EU Paris Aligned Benchmark (PAB) requirements to help investors benchmark their investment portfolio’s carbon reduction targets.
