Wilshire Expands Institutional Practice

Lauren Gellhaus and Nathan Howes Join as Vice Presidents

Santa Monica, Calif., September 30, 2022 – Wilshire, a leading investment solutions company, today announced that Lauren Gellhaus and Nathan Howes have joined the firm’s growing institutional practice. Gellhaus and Howes have both been appointed as Vice Presidents.

“We’re excited to welcome Lauren and Nathan to Wilshire,” said Leah Emkin, Chief Client Officer. “With a combined tenure of over 20 years in investment consulting and research, they are great additions to the team of professionals who serve Wilshire’s institutional asset owner client base.”

Gellhaus joins as a Vice President on Wilshire’s Client Solutions team, with a focus on pension plans. She will report to Managing Director Thomas Toth, CFA. Prior to joining Wilshire, Gellhaus was the head of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) investing at the Teacher Retirement System of Texas where she developed the ESG strategic vision and roadmap for the Investment Management Division’s initiatives. She received her Bachelor of Business Administration degree in corporate finance from the University of Texas at Austin and is a CAIA Charterholder.

Howes has also been named a Vice President on Wilshire’s Client Solutions team. He will focus on non-profit clients and will report to Managing Director Rob Appling, CFA, CAIA. Previously, Howes spent nearly nine years at Mercer, most recently as a Senior Investment Consultant where he advised pension plans, endowments, foundations, corporations and family offices. Howes earned his Bachelor of Science degree in economics and international development from the University of Bath.

Wilshire has had significant growth in recent years, adding 50 senior hires since 2021, including Senior Vice President, Julija Kod, who is also a member of the Client Solutions Team, and Chief Technology Officer, Lawrence Miller.
