Initiative brings additional transparency into pre and post-trade sector risk and performance analysis to inform asset allocation decisions
Santa Monica, Calif., May 17, 2023 –Wilshire Indexes, a leading global index provider, today announced that Uptick, a digital asset analytics and risk management platform provider, has integrated the pioneering Digital Asset Taxonomy System (DATS) as part of its platform to help institutional investors perform pre-and post-trade sector analysis. By doing so, it brings transparency to sectors across digital assets by providing an instant picture of a portfolio’s risk and performance. DATS classifies and groups over 1,000 digital assets – the broadest classification system in the market today.
As of April 30,2023, digital asset markets had a circulating value of $1.3tn according to the FT digital assets dashboard. The interest by sophisticated institutional investors in digital asset, despite recent volatility, highlighted the need for additional transparency when assessing this emerging asset class. Uptick’s portfolio risk intelligence and strategy management(PRISM) platform gives deeper analysis into sectors and subsectors allowing for deeper due diligence when assessing what opportunities and risks digital assets bring when making asset allocation decisions.
Mark Makepeace, Chief Executive Officer, Wilshire Indexes, commented, “We are delighted that Uptick has implemented DATS into their platform to further help the industry understand the risks and opportunities of the digital assets market. The rigorous approach to research and classification makes DATS the market standard for institutional investors, who need transparency and confidence in a rules-based taxonomy to conduct their research and make risk-adjusted asset allocation decisions.”
Amit Nema, Founder and CEO of Uptick, stated, "Analytical and risk platforms rely on high-quality reference data to accurately identify assets in a portfolio and aggregate exposures meaning fully. By categorizing digital assets into sectors and subsectors, investors gain a multi-layered view of their portfolio, enabling informed investment decisions by tracking signals at the asset level. DATS integration with PRISM, Uptick's Portfolio Risk Intelligence and Strategy Management Application, allows us to provide this functionality. We are impressed by the enhanced analysis it brings to our platform."
