Julia K. Bonafede, CFA
President
Julia is the head of Wilshire Consulting and is a member of Wilshire’s Board of Directors. Julia joined Wilshire Associates in1991; she then moved to Wilshire Analytics in 1993 and in 1996, started Wilshire’s European Analytics business in London. In 1999, Ms. Bonafede headed Wilshire Analytics’ U.S.-based client service group located in Wilshire’s New York and Santa Monica offices.
Ms. Bonafede has a B.S. in Marketing from the University of Colorado and an M.B.A. in Finance and Entrepreneurship from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California. She is a member of the CFA Institute and is a founding member of the United Kingdom Society of Investment Professionals. Her publications include, "The Wilshire 5000 Total Market Index: The Logistics Behind Managing Broad-Based Indexes," Journal of Indexes, 3rd Quarter 2003; and "A Multi-Period Linking Algorithm that Has Stood the Test of Time," The Journal of Performance Measurement, Volume 7: Number 1.

Steve joined Wilshire Associates in 1994. He currently directs research activities for Wilshire Consulting and is Chair of Wilshire Consulting’s Investment Committee. Before joining Wilshire Consulting, Steve spent 9 years in Wilshire Analytics where he developed and supported equity attribution and risk models. Steve holds a BS degree in finance from Lehigh University and an MBA degree in finance and accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.

Theodore C. Hermann
Managing Director
Ted joined Wilshire in 2005 to provide strategic marketing support for the consulting division. Prior to joining Wilshire, Mr. Hermann has worked for more than ten years in marketing with companies such as Kimberly-Clark Corporation, H.J. Heinz Company and Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.
Mr. Hermann holds a BS in Communication Studies from Northwestern University, and an MBA with a concentration in marketing from the University of Pittsburgh: Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.

Andrew Junkin, CFA, CAIA

Andrew Junkin joined Wilshire in 2005 to work with the firm's consulting clients. Prior to joining Wilshire, Mr. Junkin was director of research and senior consultant at Asset Services Company where he provided advice to institutional investors. He began his career as a financial consultant with Merrill Lynch in Oklahoma City.
Mr. Junkin earned a BS from Oklahoma City University, attended business school at the University of Oklahoma and earned his MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designations.

Karyn Williams, Ph.D.

Karyn, who joined Wilshire Associates in 2001, currently provides investment consulting services to corporate defined benefit and defined contribution plans, foundations and endowments, and insurance companies. Before joining Wilshire Consulting, Karyn directed Wilshire’s innovative risk budgeting research. Previously, she coordinated development of Wilshire’s next generation of analytical products and the quality assurance efforts that underpin the firm’s investment analytics solutions.
Prior to joining Wilshire, Karyn taught corporate finance and financial derivatives, and co-directed the Financial Engineering program at the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. She is a graduate of Arizona State University where she earned a BS in Economics and a PhD in Finance.

Since 2006 he has been based in the Wilshire London office coordinating the client servicing support for the Total Fund Analytics clients in Europe until his return to Wilshire's Santa Monica office in 2009 where he provides support for risk management consulting client as well as overseeing the performance measurement and data operations groups. He holds a B.S. from the University of California, San Diego.

Alex completed his MBA in corporate and investment finance from USC's Marshall School of Business and received his BS in Economics from University of Oregon. Prior to joining Wilshire, Alex worked as a private wealth management consultant.

As an analyst, Karim served as a generalist with industry experience in oil & gas equipment/services, industrials, dry bulk shipping and bedding. Karim earned a B.A. in Economics and Business Management from the University of California, Santa Cruz and an M.B.A from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was awarded the Soros Fellowship and the Robert Toigo Fellowship.

Wilshire delivers investment consulting services to its clients through dedicated investment research teams headed by a long-tenured senior consultant. Wilshire’s consultants have diverse backgrounds with experience in the investment management, plan sponsor and custody businesses.
The following groups support the consulting teams:
Data Group: 30 performance analysts, data quality analysts and supervisors calculate returns and analyze manager and total fund results.
Manager Research Group: A group of 16 researchers and analysts provide comprehensive due diligence on 4,900 manager investment products and performance results.
Investment Research: A group of three researchers provide information and education on matters affecting fund sponsor’s responsibilities.
The Investment Research Group conducts regular capital markets research on topics of general interest and special studies to meet specific client needs.
