Mark joined Wilshire in 1997, to work with Wilshire's consulting clients, including corporate, foundation, endowment, and public funds. He earned a BA from Yale University, and an MS from Carnegie Mellon University. He also holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Managing Director

Steve joined Wilshire Associates in 1994. He currently directs research activities in the Consulting Division. Before joining consulting, Steve spent 9 years in Wilshire's Analytics Division where he developed and supported equity attribution and risk models. Steve holds a BS degree in finance from Lehigh University and an MBA degree in finance and accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.

Theodore C. Hermann
Managing Director

Ted joined Wilshire in 2005 to provide strategic marketing support for the consulting division. Prior to joining Wilshire, Mr. Hermann has worked for more than ten years in marketing with companies such as Kimberly-Clark Corporation, H.J. Heinz Company and Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh.

Mr. Hermann holds a BS in Communication Studies from Northwestern University, and an MBA with a concentration in marketing from the University of Pittsburgh: Joseph M. Katz Graduate School of Business.

Andrew Junkin, CFA, CIMA, CAIA
Managing Director

Andrew Junkin joined Wilshire in 2005 to work with the firm's consulting clients. Prior to joining Wilshire, Mr. Junkin was director of research and senior consultant at Asset Services Company where he provided advice to institutional investors. He began his career as a financial consultant with Merrill Lynch in Oklahoma City.

Mr. Junkin earned a BS from Oklahoma City University, attended business school at the University of Oklahoma and earned his MBA from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst, Certified Investment Management Analyst and Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designations.

Karyn Williams, Ph.D.
Managing Director

Karyn, who joined Wilshire Associates in 2001, currently provides investment consulting services to corporate defined benefit and defined contribution plans, foundations and endowments, and insurance companies. Before joining Wilshire Consulting, Karyn directed Wilshire’s innovative risk budgeting research. Previously, she coordinated development of Wilshire’s next generation of analytical products and the quality assurance efforts that underpin the firm’s investment analytics solutions.

Prior to joining Wilshire, Karyn taught corporate finance and financial derivatives, and co-directed the Financial Engineering program at the Peter F. Drucker Graduate School of Management at Claremont Graduate University. She is a graduate of Arizona State University where she earned a BS in Economics and a PhD in Finance.

Felicia joined Wilshire in 2006 to provide investment consulting services to the firm’s corporate, public, foundation and endowment clients in the Pittsburgh office. Prior to joining Wilshire, Felicia had responsibility for over $5 billion of global defined benefit, defined contribution and foundation assets. She earned a BA in Political Science & German from Allegheny College and an MBA with concentrations in finance and economics from Carnegie Mellon University. Felicia has more than fifteen years of investment industry experience.

Michael Patalsky, CFA
Vice President

Mike joined Wilshire Associates in 2005 to work with the investment consulting clients of Mark Brubaker. He earned a BBA degree as a finance major from the University of Notre Dame, and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business.

Prior to joining Wilshire, Mike worked in the Benefits Investment and Financing group at PPG Industries, Inc., and also at Hewitt Associates in defined contribution services. Mike holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

James P. Rice, CFA
Vice President

Mr. Rice is a Vice President in the Consulting Division of Wilshire Associates and is responsible for providing consulting services to corporate, foundation, and public fund clients.

Prior to joining Wilshire in 2005, Mr. Rice was the finance director for Computer Sciences Corporation and was responsible for overseeing all investment-related aspects of their $3 billion defined benefit and defined contribution plans.

Mr. Rice received his BS in Mechanical Engineering from Rice University and a MBA from the Anderson School at the University of California, Los Angeles. Mr. Rice holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.

Paul joined Wilshire in 2007 to work with the firm’s investment consulting clients in the Pittsburgh office. Prior to joining Wilshire, Paul was a Portfolio Manager responsible for managing the private equity group at the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System. He earned a BS in Finance from Duquesne University and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. Paul holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and is a member of the CFA Institute.

Mike spent 6 years in the industry before joining Wilshire, working for another consulting company and an investment management firm. Vice President

Russ joined Wilshire in 1988 and currently serves as Consulting Team Liaison for Wilshire's Performance Measurement Group. His prior duties included heading Quality Assurance for Wilshire's Analytics Division, as well as client service and support for several Analytics software applications. Russ holds a BA in Hispanic Language and Literature from the University of Pittsburgh.

Lawrie joined Wilshire in 2006 to provide onsite consulting services to a client of Wilshire Consulting. Lawrie received her MBA from Vanderbilt University with concentrations in finance and accounting and her BS from Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. Prior to joining Wilshire, Lawrie was a Commodities Analyst at Noranda Aluminum.

Charles joined Wilshire in 2007 to provide investment consulting services to the firm’s corporate, public, foundation and endowment clients in the Pittsburgh office. Prior to joining Wilshire, he spent nine years at Westinghouse Electric Company LLC where he was the Treasury Manager and was involved in the company’s pension plan and investment committee meetings. Charles earned a BS in International Business and Technology from Beijing University of Technology and an MBA with a concentration in finance from Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He is a member of the CFA Institute and the Pittsburgh Society of Financial Analysts.

Wilshire delivers investment consulting services to its clients through dedicated investment research teams headed by a long-tenured senior consultant. Wilshire’s consultants have diverse backgrounds with experience in the investment management, plan sponsor and custody businesses.
The following groups support the consulting teams:

Data Group: 30 performance analysts, data quality analysts and supervisors calculate returns and analyze manager and total fund results.

Manager Research Group: A group of 16 researchers and analysts provide comprehensive due diligence on 4,900 manager investment products and performance results.

Investment Research: A group of three researchers provide information and education on matters affecting fund sponsor’s responsibilities.

The Investment Research Group conducts regular capital markets research on topics of general interest and special studies to meet specific client needs.
